The planet is gradually transitioning to clean energy from coal-fueled energy, and we try to reduce the over-powering dependence on coal-fueled energy across the globe. Recent reports from climate experts indicate that the world would be facing extreme climatic changes if we don’t change our ways and the emissions we let out to the environment. This fact explains why many governments are working day and night to help us escape the tragic consequences of poor maintenance of the environment. In this journey of transiting to clean energy, some countries are ahead of others while others are slacking behind either due to poor technology, lack of resources, or kicked off this venture later than others. As a result, some companies offer help to different countries as we work on improving the environment globally.
A recent report from Acciona, a Spain-based energy firm, announced an excellent opportunity for the company and Movistar Chile. It states that Acciona has signed a renewable power purchase deal with Movistar Chile, a telecommunications company with a supply capacity of up to 108GWh a year. Some of the terms in the agreement indicate that Acciona will power up the telecommunication company from its Wind and solar assets in Chile.
This recent deal demonstrates Movistar Chile’s commitment to reducing the harmful gas emissions in Chile since this renewable energy capacity amounts to 40% of its energy needs. It will reduce the CO2 emissions by 42,400t annually, which is equal to removing around 23,000 fuel-powered cars from the road. Lionel Roa, Acciona Energy Management boss, commented on the energy purchase agreement thanking Movistar Chile for choosing and believing in them to supply renewable energy. Also, the company is glad to be part of the decarbonization process in Chile.
Recent reports show Acciona’s commitment to building a renewable energy portfolio in Chile evident in the many huge investments it has in the country. This feature will make their customers feel secure regarding a clean power supply. Movistar Chile’s move to clean energy shows its commitment to maintain sustainable operations and protect the environment. Jose Antonio, the Economic Management of Networks Control boss, commented on the issue, stating that the company is aware that to become sustainable, it has to starts with the way we carry out our operations. Therefore, it aims to ensure that all their operations are clean and poses no danger to the environment.
Antonio explained that Movistar Chile commits the country to help protect the environment and achieve sustainable goals. Also, the company must be responsible for the impact they pose to the environment to achieve a sustainable business. Many people are looking forward to future moves to maintain the environment.
